MRSS is an alternative to in-patient care, designed for youth and young adults under the age of 18 who are experiencing severe behavioral or emotional distress, giving them immediate care and on-going support.

- Escalating emotional or behavioral issues
- Mental health issues
- Addiction and substance abuse

A Team Effort
Alta’s MRSS Team uses local staff to provide instant care. Each team dispatched is composed of an Alta licensed clinician and peer recovery support staff to continue care when needed for behavioral and mental health. All staff are trained by The Child and Adolescent Behavioral Health Center of Excellence of Case Western Reserve and certified by the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services.
Who is MRSS for?
MRSS is for anyone going through a behavioral situation. Alta Behavioral Healthcare focuses on the mental health of everyone involved. MRSS offers support to families as well as school staff in Mahoning County.
For families, Alta’s MRSS team can help de-escalate situations in homes, relieving the need for further involvement from law enforcement. School staff can use MRSS to de-escalate situations on site as well as receive continued support when necessary.
Continued Support
MRSS brings the care where you need it the most. Clinical and peer recovery support staff help de-escalate situations and provide support to staff and to families to prevent future crisis events. While Alta’s MRSS team responds immediately to a crisis, they also ensure the client – once stepping down from MRSS – is linked to other services that may be appropriate.
For youth and families, MRSS provides the following:
- Safety assessment and planning
- De-escalation
- Support for parents from another peer with lived experience
- Recommendations for building coping skills and strategies
- Connection to resources
- Up to 6 weeks of on-going support in school and at home
