Sept. 27 Round Table Discussion to Focus on Adolescent Issues

The Ohio Mental Health Network for School Success (OMHNSS), North East Region will present a Round Table discussion on the “Be Present” Campaign, Thursday, September 27th from 2:00-3:30 p.m., at Alta Behavioral Healthcare, 711 Belmont Ave. in Youngstown.

Facilitating the discussion will be Ivan Juzang, founder and president of Motivational Educational Entertainment Productions, Inc. — a communications, research and marketing firm that develops culturally relevant messages for hard-to-reach audiences.

The Be Present campaign educates and empowers peers, friends, classmates and siblings of at-risk youth to “step up” and provide needed support. It also makes youth more aware of and able to address their own emotional state.

Be Present seeks to raise awareness about the struggles young people face and encourage and empower their peer group, close friends and siblings to take more responsibility for each other, especially for youth who are being bullied (in-person or online); struggling to overcome mental or emotional problems or other stressors; and those who are most at risk of harming themselves (including LGBTQ youth). It also helps link young people to local and state-level resources, information, immediate crisis intervention and longer-term care (if needed).
