Respite Events Give Valley Parents a Break
The November 22 Respite Event sponsored by Alta Behavioral Healthcare mentioned in a recent post is just the first of 20 such events that will take place over the next two years. These Respite Events are open to any family in Mahoning or Trumbull County. The only requirement is that the child attending the event have a Mental Health diagnosis.
These four-hour events give parents a welcome break from caring for their child’s needs — while at the same time involving the children in a structured activity in which he/she can learn positive social engagement and have fun with other kids in an enjoyable, experiential way. It’s a win-win for parents and children alike!
All of the Respite Events will take place at Alta Camp Challenge, located on Youngstown’s west side at 939 Wilkinson Avenue near McCollum Rd. and Mill Creek Park. Children who attend will participate in Ropes Course/Adventure Course activities, and also enjoy a free lunch. There is no charge for the Respite Events.
Parents who would like to learn more may contact their Alta staff person, or may call Vince Paolucci at (330) 793-2487.
