Infant Mortality Program Receives New Grant

The Mahoning County District Board of Health has awarded Alta Care Group an additional $175,643 to expand Alta’s successful Infant Mortality Program.

The grant will allow Alta to add an additional full-time and two part-time Community Health Workers (CHW’s) to help impact the issue of infant mortality in our Valley. This will allow the expansion of our Care Coordination service to additional women in both Mahoning and Trumbull Counties.

The new funding will also support the costs associated with the training and certification of the additional CHW’s through the Board of Nursing, required materials, computer equipment, and the supervision of the CHW’s within the Alta Infant Mortality Program.

To date, there have been no instances of infant mortality among women served by Alta’s Program!
