Alta Trauma Experts Participate in YSU “Safer Schools” Conference
Youngstown State University’s Beeghly College of Education hosted a Professional Development Day on February 2, 2019 titled Safer Schools: Strategies for Teachers and Skills for Students.
Alta Behavioral Healthcare’s Jamie Miller, Clinical Director, and Meg Harris, Certified Trauma Therapist/Trainer, presented at the university to assist school personnel in understanding some of the ways trauma can affect children in the classroom.
An overview of the conditions that support children who are navigating trauma was provided, as well as strategies and skills that can be used to help children in schools cope.
